Joye Smith Mills, 91, of Smiley, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, in Beeville. She was born May 17, 1929, in Smiley to Roy and Velma (Montgomery) Smith. She married the love of her life, Roy D. Mills on July 17, 1946, in Smiley and they together had two daughters, Beverly Mills and Joan Smith. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Smiley. The family will have private services. more
Juanita Uribe Vela, 80, of Alice passed away on July 29, 2020. She was born on May 27, 1940 in Agua Dulce, Texas to Porfirio Uribe and Santos Ruiz Uribe. She was a graduate of Agua Dulce High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, Isidro Vela, on May 9, 1964 after meeting him at a local dance at La Villita in Alice in 1961. They were married for 56 years. While living in Gonzales, she was a babysitter to children of educators. With her passion for plants and flowers, she quickly developed a green thumb and landed a job at Torres Fence and Nursery in the early 1980s. There will be a private viewing for immediate family only 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 at Rosas Funeral Home, Inc. located at 1215 W. Front St. in Alice, TX. more
Jimmy Chionsini passed away on July 21, 2020, in Petoskey, Michigan, near his home he shared with his wife of 26 years, Macy. Living on Round Lake in Charlevoix, Michigan, was the place he wanted to be – in the summer.  He spent his winters in San Angelo and on the No Name Ranch. Macy plans to have two going away parties for Jimmy. One will be in San Angelo, and the other will be in Charlevoix, both at a later date. more

Wanda L. Sandlin, 77, went to join her late husband, Wyman Sandlin and her parents, Louise and Homer Tallant in heaven on July 24, 2020. She was born on November 6, 1942 in Brownwood, Texas. On July 30, 2020 J.C. McCann, 97, went to be with his Heavenly Father. J.C. was born on February 8, 1923 in Sterling, Illinois to John Carl and Audestia (Boatman) McCann, who have preceded him in death. His wife of 74 years, Jewell (Riggs) McCann, his son Johnny Lee McCann, and 10 brothers also precede him. The family will hold a private graveside service at a later time. Evajo Kelley Myers passed away at home on July 15, 2020 in Hutto, Texas at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her father Leslie Bart Kelley and twin sister Anabel Kelley Burnes. Evajo is survived by her spouse Jerry Myers of Hutto, mother Katherine Kelley of Austin, brother Bart Kelley Jr. and wife Cynthia of Austin, sons Quentin Weston and wife Darlene of Florida and Jason Weston and wife Christy of Colorado, and five Grandchildren: Anna, Monica, Garrett, Davis and Cooper. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. more
Carlos Jessie Wright passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the age of 81. C.J. was born on February 6, 1939 in Gonzales, Texas to Osbon K. and Lula Mae Smith Wright. In 1950, C.J. went to live with Berkley and Olivia Lawrence. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gonzales. Services will be held at a later date. Michael Alan Rothrock, 68, of Waelder, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, July 20, 2020. Michael was born November 5, 1951 in Kemmer, WY to Harry Luther Rothrock and Sylvia Joyce Buschmille Rothrock. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2020 in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Martini officiating.  Internment will follow in Thompsonville Cemetery. more
Victor Joseph Jungbauer, of Gonzales, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 90. He was born on September 8, 1929 in Shiner, Texas to Joseph and Rose Darilek Jungbauer. He married Lucille Kuntschik on May 28, 1951 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 5 until 7 PM in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, with a rosary to follow at 7 PM. A private family graveside will be held at a later date. more
Clarence Charles Vyvjala, 90, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was born in Smithville, TX on November 4, 1929 to Henry and Albina (Michalik) Vyvjala. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He married Marian Brom in Moulton, TX on November 5, 1955.  They had two children, Cindy, and Michael.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 6:30pm. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in St. James Catholic Cemetery at 10:00 am. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Prior to the service a horse drawn hearse processional will be at 9:30 am from the parking lot of Seydler Hill. more
Gale Oliver, III, devoted husband and father, died peacefully in his home in Houston surrounded by his loving family on July 10, 2020. He was born in Refugio, Texas on February 13, 1939 to Gale Oliver, Jr. and Frances Hamilton Oliver. Besides his loving parents, Gale was greatly influenced by his maternal grandmother, Clare Wofford Hamilton of Cuero. Due to current restrictions and safety concerns regarding Covid-19, a private family burial is planned. A church service and celebration of Gale’s life will be held at a later date in the very near future. more
Albina "Bea" Bohuslav, 85, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by her beloved family. She was born December 29, 1934 in Shiner to Matt and Clara (Simersky) Spann. Private funeral services will be held with Memorial Funeral Mass at a later date. Burial was held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. more

Graveside Services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nixon Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 427, Nixon, Texas, 78140 or the charity of one’s choice. Chaplain Jeremy Roy will officiate. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required to attend. more

Arnold Lee Baker, 66, of Gonzales, rode through God’s heavenly gates on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. He was born on September 8, 1953, to Emmet J. and Irene Baker, Sr., being one of five children. His entire family joined the First Lutheran Church of Gonzales in July 1968. He grew up in the Hamon community helping his family with their farming livelihood, which included raising chickens, picking cotton, pulling corn, and raising cattle. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1972, being named “Friendliest” of his class. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 9, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seydler Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. more
