Arno Eugene Nance, Sr., 71, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. Arno was born Dec. 18, 1948 in Gonzales to Arno Venson Nance and Alta Lucille LePori Nance. He married Carol Jeanine McKinney on Sept. 3, 1967 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church in Gonzales. Arno was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church and had given his heart to Jesus at an early age. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Chapel Cemetery. more
David Guerra, 84, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. David was born in Gonzales County on Dec. 31, 1935 to Ricardo Guerra and Maria Rios Guerra. He married Mary Jane Castro on July 11, 1959 in Gonzales. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2020 with a holy rosary at 7 p.m., all in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020 in St. James Catholic Cemetery. more
Cynthia Diane Floyd, 56, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020. Diane was born August 26, 1964 to Melvin C. Menking and Janice Baker Menking. She married David Allen Floyd, Sr. on Nov. 10, 1984 in Gonzales. Diane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gonzales. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment followed in Floyd Chapel Cemetery. more
Linda Carol Streety Bishop was born on Mar. 11, 1940 at her family home in Smiley, TX to Joe and Julia Streety. She made heaven her forever home on Sept. 10, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Services were held at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, TX on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020; Visitation followed at 2:00pm with the Funeral Service at 3:00pm. Burial followed at Bundick Cemetery in Smiley, Texas. The Reverend Marvin Miles was officiant of the services. more
Willie Soefje, age 88 of Leesville, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2020. Willie was born on March 18, 1932 in Leesville, Texas to Willie Herman Soefje and Elsie Ivy Soefje. Willie spent his entire life on the farm where he grew up and he was a dedicated farmer and rancher. Visitation will be held Monday Sept. 14, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary, 165 Tor Dr., Seguin, Texas. Graveside services and interment will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Leesville Cemetery in Leesville, Texas with the Rev. Douglas Bielefeldt officiating.  more
On Sept. 5, 2020, our family lost our parent, grandparent and friend Bill Sherry. Bill was a man who made his own way in life and was an icon for his children and grandchildren. Bill was originally from Gonzales, Texas, married his sweetheart, Sharlene (Smith) Sherry, in 1955.We plan a memorial for dad, Bill Sherry, in November. Anyone wanting to leave donations may direct them to Devine Hospice Thrift Store or Food Pantry in Devine.  more

Lucille Copeland Lester, 81 of Gonzales, Texas passed away on August 26, 2020. Lucille was born on October 1, 1938 in DeWitt County to Reinhardt H. Alex and Esther E. (Logeman) Alex who have preceded her in death along with her husbands; Robert D. “Bob” Copeland and J.B. Lester. Lucille is survived by her sons; Gregory Ibrom and Steven Ibrom, daughters; Lennette Conn and Robbie Copeland, 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, brother; Arthur Alex and a host of family and friends. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, Texas. more

Pundt, Sr. and Nee Minnie Zacharias Pundt. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Morning Circle and Prayer Group. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating.  Interment will follow in Moulton City Cemetery. Victor “Vic” Gordon Mathis passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020, of natural causes, at the age of 71. Vic was born on September 10, 1948, in Butler, MO, to his parents Gordon Mathis and Laura Reeze. He dedicated his life to his business finishing concrete and performing backhoe services. A celebration of life will be held at the Gonzales Elk Lodge on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 6 pm. The family will be there to welcome all friends and business partners. more
Hensley Tapply Hurt, 94, of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020. Hensley was born on November 8, 1925 at the family home in the community of Dewville, Gonzales County, Texas. He is the son of Walter and Kate Hensley Hurt and the youngest of four children. He joined the Dewville Methodist Church as a young boy. His great-grandfather, Elijah Randolph Hurt was a founding Trustee of the Dewville Methodist Church in 1857. Hensley was also a member of the Gonzales First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Matt Pennington officiating.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the charity of one’s choice.  more
Delbert Monroe Webb, age 70, of Ardmore, Oklahoma (recently from Round Rock, Texas, a proud sixth generation Texan) went home to Jesus on August 20, 2020. He was born in Smiley on July 21, 1950 and graduated valedictorian of Smiley High School in 1968. Del is a member of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore after having been baptized again, along with his wife, on July 5, 2020. more
Patricia Louise Koonce Schlageter, 88, of Hallettsville, Texas, passed away August 15, 2020 at Stevens Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hallettsville, Texas. She was born in Ezzell, Texas, on December 12, 1931, to James Thomas Sr. and Louise Jane Matula Koonce. A private graveside service will be conducted. A virtual Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20th on the Facebook Page, "Remembering Patricia Schlageter." more

She married Alton Rodenberg on March 20, 1948 in Gonzales. She was a member of the Elks Lodge. Services were held Sunday July 26, at 2:00 PM, graveside at the Luling Cemetery with Father Ripp Hardeway officiating. Burial followed in the Luling Cemetery. more
