23-year-old man arrested on murder charge

The Gonzales Police Department arrested Tristen M. Lopez, 23, of Gonzales, for murder stemming from an incident around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5.

The victim was identified as Clyde Thomas Lowe, 29, of Gonzales. According to police, he recently moved to Gonzales from Reklaw, Texas.

According to the Gonzales County Sheriff's Office, Lopez was booked into the county jail on a murder charge and is being held on a $250,000 bond. 

According to police, officers responded to a call of a man with a gun on the 900 block of Tate Street.

The summary provided by the police reads: Upon arrival, Officer Cody Thomas observed a male subject, later identified to be Tristen M. Lopez, standing in front of one of the duplexes, covered in blood. Officer Thomas detained Mr. Lopez and asked him who was hurt. Mr. Lopez referenced a person laying in the yard about 50 feet away. Officer Thomas advised Sgt. Mendez of the person on the ground. Sgt Mendez went to the injured person and began first aid and called for EMS. The victim has multiple stab wounds and cuts.

Officer Thomas secured Mr. Lopez in his patrol unit and continued his investigation as to what happened. EMS arrived and advised the subject was deceased.

Justice of the Peace Diedra Voigt arrived and ordered an autopsy. Mr. Lopez was later booked into Gonzales County Jail for Murder.

No gun was located. Witnesses advised both subjects had spent the evening drinking together.

The investigation is on going.
