GONZALES — A woman was rushed to the hospital after a three-vehicle wreck occurred on Highway 183 north Tuesday.

The Texas Highway Patrol reported that at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7, an 18-wheeler driven by Grant James, 35, was headed southbound on 183 about 10 miles south of town when the driver was forced to change lanes. That’s when a Dodge Ram pickup, driven by Molly Bixemann, 71, tried to pass the truck but had to take evasive action in order to avoid a collision. The Dodge swerved into oncoming traffic, striking the front left bumper of a Ford Edge, driven by John Allen, 54, that was headed northbound, troopers said.

Bixemann was taken to Gonzales Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported, and no citations were issued. None of the drivers were reported to be from the Gonzales area.
