Adela Sophie Filla

Adela Sophie Filla, 89, of Gonzales, passed away Monday Nov. 9, 2015. She was born Nov. 24, 1925 in Hallettsville, the daughter of Willie and Mathilda Quitta Rother. She married Adolph Bob Filla on June 18, 1941 in Hallettsville. 

Adela and Bob ranched for many years and raised poultry and cattle. She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening and grew beautiful flowers. She loved fishing, playing dominoes and bingo. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center and cooked and served for many years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and St. James Altar Society. 

She is survived by her daughter, Mildred Nagelmueller and husband, Charles of Baytown; sons Harvey Filla of Baytown, Eddie Filla and wife Brenda of Bryan and Marvin Filla and wife Katherine of Marble Falls; sister, Evelyn Tobola of Hallettsville and brother Leonard Rother and wife Jeanette of Victoria.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Alma Ruth Kahanek and brothers Herman and Edwin Rother. 

Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers include Mark Nagelmueller, Robert Filla, David Filla, Steven Filla, James Filla and Chad Filla. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Nagelmueller Jr., Michelle Taylor, Amy Watson and Connie Ayala. 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, 906 St. Paul Street, Gonzales.
