Aida Tristan Rodriguez

Aida Tristan Rodriguez, 52, of Gonzales passed away amidst the love of her family on Saturday, Dec. 22. Aida was born at home on April 21, 1966 in Kingsbury, the youngest child of Alejandro R. Tristan and Juanita Padron Tristan. Aida married Robert G. Rodriguez on July 8, 2000 in Gonzales.

Aida grew up with her siblings and enjoyed the life of a country girl. She enjoyed building tents to play house with her siblings or playing at the creek and fishing for crawfish. Aida was a part of the family workforce, helping her parents garden, tend to the animals, collect eggs and helping with the house chores. She ran track in high school, belonged to FHA club and National Honor Society. She graduated from Navarro High School with the Class of 1984. Aida graduated from St. Phillips College in 1987 receiving her certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked in Home Health for many years before going to work at Sievers Medical Clinic in Gonzales where she remained for the last 18 years. Aida was a loving and gifted caregiver, dedicated to her profession, the patients she cared for and the doctors and physician assistants she served. Her warm compassionate nature, assuring smile and the tenderness of her touch were natural attributes that lended to her professionalism in patient care.

Her children gave as much to her as she gave too them. How she delighted in day trips to the beach, Landa Park or playing ball with her children. She was a loving tender-hearted mom who was firm only when such was required of her. It was commonplace for her to put the needs of others before her own simply because she loved. Wednesday afternoons were enchanting to her as this was the time she had her grandchildren about her. Clearly Aida’s abounding love was ever present and in full bloom when her grandchildren came to visit. “Momo” as they adoringly called Aida, could do anything. She made the best homemade flour tortillas and the produce from her garden was delicious. She loved to interact with her grandchildren and the loved she bestowed upon them was returned to her many times over from their hugs, kisses and drawings for Momo, all of which she cherished as blessings.

Aida loved baking, gardening, arts and crafts and was always ready for a road trip to anywhere. Aida was a loving wife, mother and Momo. An illness took her away far too early. No longer can she dance with her husband to “Neon Moon” or watch her children and grandchildren grow to be loving and caring to others as she has been her entire life. Aida knew well the emptiness her passing will leave in the hearts of her family, co-workers and friends. To this she leaves the truth in Rev. 21:4 “And He shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.”

Aida Tristan Rodriguez is survived by her adoring family, husband, Robert G. Rodrigues Sr. of Gonzales, daughter, Rita Rodriguez and Josh Mendoza of Gonzales, sons, Joshua Tristan Sanchez and Nayelis Suarez of Gonzales, Jacob Lee Sanchez and Randi Sutton of Cost, Conrad and Mandi Rodriguez of Austin, Robert G. “Buddy” Rodriguez Jr. and Jenna Clay of Gonzales, sisters, Irma Estella Salazar of Seguin, Diana P. Tristan of Geronimo, Lucero Tristan of Seguin, brothers, Roy and Carolyn Rocha of Portsmouth, VA, and Noe P. Tristan and Barbara Hughes of Highlands and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Benny Padron officiating. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Tim Decker leading. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Dr. Commie Hisey, Todd Crawford, P.A., Dr. Humberto Rivas, Dr. John Thomas, Dr. David Meredith, and Dr. Christopher Walker.
