Apache Cheer kicks annual off PINK OUT T-shirt fundraiser

Posted

In the last six months indigent, uninsured and underinsured women of Gonzales County have received 75 free mammograms, biopsies and follow-up appointments, thanks to the Gonzales High School Apache Cheerleaders.

Each year the cheer team raises thousands of dollars toward the funding of these much-needed screenings. This year they have kicked off fundraising and are once again selling PINK OUT T-Shirts, with a $10,000 goal in mind.

The idea of the sale is to unify Gonzales in the fight against breast cancer, raise funds for unfunded testing, raise awareness and PINK OUT the stadium at the home game against La Grange on Friday, October 13 – and for any game in October – which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Shirts may be ordered through Mrs. Vera, in the GHS office. The shirts are $15 each and must be paid in full, with cash, by noon on Monday, Oct. 2. There will be no returns or exchanges.

All proceeds will be used to assist unfunded women with mammograms or biopsies through Gonzales Healthcare Systems. To make a tax-deductible contribution to this cause, or for more information contact Lena Hernandez at 830-203-0255 or Leslie Buesing at 830-672-7535.
