Apaches announce hiring of new girls’ basketball coach

Head coach slots are filling up under new athletic director Mike Waldie. Earlier this week, the Gonzales Apaches athletic program announced the hiring of Lance Butler as the new head coach for girls’ basketball.

Butler comes from Martinsville where his team over the last three years has been a district champion, co-district champion, regional quarterfinalist and regional semi-finalist.

“We’re blessed and fired up to get Coach butler and his wife,” Waldie told the Inquirer. “She is going to bring a lot to the table as coach’s wife and a businesswoman in town. Coach Butler’s success in the classroom with multiple sports, much less basketball, is just going to be a huge get for the community of Gonzales.”

Butler is one of many new faces to the Apaches athletic program. Full profiles on all the new hires will be published at a later date.
