Apaches named to all-district team

GONZALES — Many Apaches contributed to the team’s District 26-4A championship as Gonzales went 10-1-1 in district play. Fourteen players won postseason honors from the district.

Santiago Escoto was named District 26-4A MVP for the second year in a row. Named offensive player of the year was Rogelio Sanchez, who was an all-district first-team player last season. José Flores was named midfielder of the year for the second year in a row. Daniel Cruz was honored with the freshman of the year awarded. Fabian Cardoza, Suriel Rangel, Anthony Veliz and Daniel Barrientos. Named to the second team were Jesus Guzman, Martin Romero, Sebastian Rodriguez, Mario Pizano and Antonio Hernandez.

The Apaches made it to the Region IV-4A quarterfinals before losing to Canyon Lake 4-3.
