Area girls teams compete in playoffs

The Gonzales County area had some success in the first round of playoffs for girls basketball, including the Lady Apaches winning their first bi-district game in 10 years. The following are scores from around the districts.

District 30-4A

Gonzales beat Hondo 54-43. Gonzales plays #3 Beeville Jones on Friday, Feb. 21 at Pleasanton.

#20 Navarro beat Pearsall 71-20. They play against Sinton next.

La Vernia lost to Devine 75-45 and are eliminated from the playoffs.

Cuero lost to Crystal City 44-31 and are eliminated from the playoffs.

District 27-3A

#15 Luling beat Hallettsville 55-52. Luling plays Lago Vista this Friday, Feb. 21.

#13 Poth beat Edna 64-46. Poth plays Comfort next.

Karnes City lost to Columbus 39-31 and are eliminated from the playoffs.

Yoakum lost to #5 Schulenburg 37-28 and are eliminated from the playoffs.

TAPPS District 5-2A

Shiner St. Paul beat Alpha Omega Academy 44-42. They take on Austin Waldorf next on Saturday, Feb. 15 in Smithville. Tipoff is at 11 a.m.

Victoria Faith Academy beat Allen Academy 37-26. They play Bryan St. Joseph next.

Bulverde Bracken Christian lost to Austin Waldorf School 43-30 and are eliminated from the playoffs.

District 30-1A

#14 Moulton had a bye in the first round and will play Nueces Canyon next.

Fayetteville beat Spurger 61-41 and will play #10 Rocksprings next.

Dime Box beat Chester 42-30 and will play #13 McMullen County next.

District 29-2A

Shiner beat Three Rivers 39-29. They play Santa Maria in the next round. Details on the game were unavailable before press time.

Weimar beat Refugio 56-27. They take on San Perlita next.

Flatonia beat Port Aransas 56-55. They play Premont next.

Yorktown beat Falls City 52-48. They play Freer next.
