Area schools send enrollment numbers to UIL

Posted

The first step to realignment took place on Friday when area schools sent their average daily attendance (ADA) numbers to the University Interscholastic League (UIL). The numbers sent will be used for UIL’s biennial reclassification and realignment.

UIL is expected to release the cutoff numbers for each classification in November, and the district assignments in February 2020.

A few interesting questions that will be answered in November will be whether Gonzales will be in Division I or Division II in Class 4A for football and if Shiner moves up from Class 2A to Class 3A for all sports.

The following ADA numbers were turned in around the area:

  • Gonzales – 833
  • Nixon-Smiley – 297
  • Shiner – 223

As of press time, Waelder and Luling have not reached back to the Inquirer with their enrollment numbers.
