Buster Chapman Jr., 69, passed away peacefully on March 31 at the Audie Murphy Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was one of 12 children born to Buster and Robbie Jo Chapman Sr. on November 9, 1947, in Gonzales, Texas. He attended public school in Gonzales, where he was an exemplary student and varsity football player. He graduated from Edwards High School in 1966.

In 1966, Buster joined the United States Army, where he courageously served as a medic in the Vietnam War, receiving the following medals: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Bronze Star; Marksman Badge (Rifle-M14); and Expert Badge Pistol Caliber 45. During his tenure in the military, he was formally trained and received his certification as a Registered Medical Technologist and continued pursuing his education at San Antonio College. Upon leaving the military, Buster worked as a medical technologist for various hospitals in the San Antonio and surrounding areas. 

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Chapman of San Antonio; four daughters: Carla Brown (Gary) of San Antonio, Linda Villarreal of Houston, Felicia Lewis and Victoria Chapman of San Antonio; and six siblings Diana Chapman Miller of Austin, Freddie Chapman of Luling, Arthur Chapman and Christine Cunningham both of San Antonio, Michael Chapman of Gonzales, and Norma Fae Smith (James) of San Antonio. To mourn his passing, Buster leaves seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. Buster was preceded in death by his parents, and the following siblings: Harry Chapman, Mary Bouldin, Eula Mae Ward, Ivory Ray Chapman, and Ola Mae Chapman.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. The funeral service will also be held at Lewis Funeral Home on April 13 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Services are under the care of Lewis Funeral Home of San Antonio, located at 811 South W.W. White Road, with Overseer Trevor Alexander officiating.
