Calvin Henry Waller Sr., 81, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at The Heights of Gonzales in Gonzales, Texas.

Calvin was born in Robstown, Texas on February 12, 1935. He was the son of Charles Henry Waller and Melanie (Gollnick) Bailey. Calvin began working for Reynolds Metals after graduating from high school in 1953. He retired in 1991 after 37 ½ years with the company. In October, 1957, Calvin joined the US Army. He served overseas with Company D, 34th Armored Division. He received an Honorable Discharge in October, 1963. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Sharpshooter Medal for Pistol. Calvin enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He liked woodworking and caring for his vegetable and flower gardens. He was a bowling enthusiast for more than 40 years.

Calvin is survived by one daughter; Krista Slezinsky and her husband, Bob of Beeville, Texas, one son; Calvin Waller, Jr. and his wife, Tanya of Jacksonville, Florida, four grandchildren; Melanie Lowry, Jonathan Whitehead, Chase Victoria Waller, Sharli Takakawa and her husband, Yoshi, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Henry Waller and Melanie Bailey, two sons; Charles Henry Waller II, and Richard Douglas Waller.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Mr. Waller’s ranch, at 7720 N. US Hwy.183 in Gonzales, Texas for Mr. Waller and his son, Charles Henry Waller II. Military Honors will be presented by Fort Sam Honor Guard.
