Cardinals look to extend win streak

SHINER — The Cardinals are looking to improve on their consistency as they take on Schertz John Paul II tonight on the road.

The Guardians (2-3, 1-0) boast a balanced attack on offense, with quarterback #12 Hunter Albrecht leading the way alongside #7 Cade Anderson at receiver and a strong running back.

Defensively, Schertz JPII will run a 4-3 defense, just like last season. The Cardinals’ offense had trouble scoring last year against this team.

“They did a really good job of it last year against us,” Head Coach Jake Wachsmuth said of their defense. “It’s not really fancy, not a lot of stunting. Just a real solid unit.”

For the Cardinals, they will need to be more consistent on offense. Although they did “a lot of good things,” last week, there were still some plays where penalties halted their long-sustaining drives. Wachsmuth noted the importance of not hurting themselves.

Tonight’s game is on the road with kickoff set at 7:30 p.m.
