Cardinals to take on run-first Flatonia

SHINER — The theme of the week for Shiner St. Paul is to not turn the ball over as they take on the Flatonia Bulldogs tonight in Flatonia. The Bulldogs are a team that tends to execute well on offense, so Shiner St. Paul cannot afford any mistakes.

Offensively, the Bulldogs are going to run the football.

“They’re going to have a run-first mentality,” Cardinals’ head coach Jake Wachsmuth noted. “We know they’re a good football team, they’re going to execute. They don’t make many mistakes.”

Meanwhile on defense, the Bulldogs will have a split look inside while trying to stack seven or eight players up front.

“Last year they had a few more up,” Wachsmuth said, [they] try to dare you to throw the ball.”

Quarterback Austin Barton will have to take advantage of the look and throw the ball well for the Cardinals if they want to leave Flatonia with a win.

More importantly, the Cardinals need to limit their turnovers.

Kickoff at Flatonia is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
