Cases of coronavirus in Gonzales County increase by 24 Thursday

The total case count in Gonzales County rose by 24 new cases and one new death was reported Thursday, August 6, 2020.

Data from the State Department of State Health Services shows that the 24 new cases bring the total case count of COVID-19 in Gonzales County to 689, with 56 being active, 625 estimated to have recovered, and eight reported deaths recorded in the county. The rate of spread has slowed somewhat in the county, with fewer new cases reported in the last week than the week previous. Hospitalizations in the area are also down, decreasing to 1,010 on Thursday from 1,089 on Tuesday.

Deaths are reported as death certificates are received, which is why the additional death was dealyed in being reported, according to the DSHS.
