Charles “Charlie” Ray Winton, born to Samuel Louis Winton Sr. and Dorothy Lula Sanders Winton on Sept. 19, 1928 in Boswell, Choctaw, Okla., lost his hard fought battle with cancer on April 18, 2018 surrounded by his children and grandchildren providing him with love and support.

Charlie was a hardworking man who dedicated more than 25 years of his life to Olin/Mobile-Exxon Petroleum in Houston. After retiring from Mobile, he moved to his “forever” home in Gonzales where he enjoyed hosting family gatherings at his home on the lake, fishing, working out in the yard, making new lifelong friends, shopping, and found his church family at Memorial Heights Baptist Church where he loved fellowshipping.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Samuel Lewis Winton Jr. and his wife Mabel; sister, Geraldean Zier; daughter, Karen Sue Winton Grace; sons, Gary Ray Winton and Danny Dumoit, and wife of 27 years Patricia Winton.

Charlie was survived by sons Ronald Winton and Gloria Morley of Gonzales, Craig Winton of Houston, and Mark Dumoit and wife Cheryl of Angleton; his grandchildren, who knew him as “PawPaw,” Michelle Norman Byrd, Richard Norman, Kristen Grace, Carrie Sharp, Derrick Dumoit, Danna Dumoit, Raquel Hughes, Courtney Davis, Laine Hannah, Brock Dumoit, Brent Dumoit, Cassidy Campise and Shelby Dumoit. Charlie also had many great and great-great-grandchildren. He was lovingly known as “Uncle Red” to his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Charlie also leaves behind his wife of 2 years, Dawn Mabson Winton and her children.

Services for Charlie will be held Friday, April 27 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home at 906 St. Paul St. in Gonzales. Visitation is 8-9:30 a.m. with service following, then we will proceed to graveside at South Park Cemetery located in Pearland at 1310 Main St. for graveside services at 3 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
