GONZALES — The City of Gonzales this week released a statement in response to recent concerns about drinking water quality. The city first reported on the matter Wednesday night, then again as a follow-up on Thursday morning.

"The City of Gonzales administration is aware of citizen-reported issues concerning the drinking water supply of the city," officials said.

According to officials, testing of the city's water supply was performed and the water met health and safety standards.

City Manager Sean Lally said the test has a turn-around rate of approximately one week.

"The City is working closely with TCEQ [Texas Commission on Environmental Quality], who is conducting further testing to isolate the source of the water issue and take any and all corrective action necessary to fix the problem," officials said.

Lally said the city will continue to work with the TCEQ until any matters are resolved.

According to the city, TCEQ is not requiring an official public notice but the city is reporting for transparency.

According to officials, the city will report the final test results and keep residents informed of the outcome.

Any further questions, regarding the water supply, may be directed to the city, at 830-672-2815.

"The City of Gonzales is providing this message for informational purposes only and is committed to providing the citizens of Gonzales a safe water supply which meets all health and water safety quality standards as required by law," officials said.
