Clyde Newton Tumlinson

Clyde Newton Tumlinson, 71, of Eden, N.C., went to be with his Lord on Feb. 11, 2016. He was born June 16, 1944 in Matagorda County, the son of Newton Louis and Ovella Buckner Tumlinson. 

He served with the United States Army from 1970 until 1977. He was a resident of Eden for many years and worked in the textile industry. He was the pastor of the Gospel Baptist Church in Mayodan, N.C. 

He is survived by his mother, Ovella Tumlinson of Harwood; son, Gus Newton Tumlinson of Houston; sister, Elaine Turner of Harwood; brothers, Thomas Tumlinson of Harwood and Robert Lee Tumlinson of Lolita; and half-brothers, Louis Ray Tumlinson of Gonzales, Billy George Tumlinson of San Antonio and Rufus Lee Tumlinson of Harwood. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife Jerline Thornton Tumlinson. 

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at the Harwood Cemetery with Reverend Jason Kelske and Reverend Glen Behrend officiating. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, 906 St. Paul Street, Gonzales.
