If you have any fond dirt-road memories of the old twisted, warped and battered Peach Creek Bridge out on County Road 353 it is time to bid her farewell. Gonzales County Commissioners have decided it is time for the old bridge to be replaced.

Commissioners are scheduled to receive information from Pct. 1 Commissioner K.O. "Dell" Whiddon regarding the temporary closure of CR 353 at Peach Creek for construction of the new bridge, which is scheduled for April 2018.

In other business, commissioners are set to: approve the minutes of the December 18, 2017 Commissioners Court Meeting, as well as receive monthly reports from several departments, including: Pct. 1 Constable, Pct. 3 Constable, Pct. 4 Constable; receive a racial profile report from Pct. 4 Constable; and the Tax Assessor-Collector’s Monthly Report.

Commissioners will also receive the Tax Assessor-Collector's continuing education certificate of completion, which is in compliance with Texas Senate Bill 546 requirements.

The commissioners will then discuss and possibly approve: disbursing permanent school funds to Gonzales Independent School District; an agreement for services between Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office and TTL/Drash Consultants – regarding a foundation and floor slab distress study at the jail; pass a Resolution adopting the FEMA approved Gonzales County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan; a temporary District Clerk position; make budget amendments; read and pay bills; and hear public comments.

Gonzales County Commissioners Court will meet in regular session at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, in the Commissioners Courtroom, at Gonzales County Courthouse, 414 St. Joseph Street, Gonzales.
