Comptroller disperses sales tax revenue allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $911.9 million in local sales tax allocations for February. This allocation is a 6.2 percent increase over funds released in February of 2017.

Gonzales County will receive an allocation of $140,196.45 for a year-to-date (YTD) total of $292,240.79. In the same period last year the county received $147,077.94. In February of 2016 the allocation was $167,840.33; and, in 2015 the County received $346,870.04.

The City of Gonzales will receive an allocation of $250,582.12 this month, for a YTD total of $461,233.09. Historical date for allocations indicate this is the largest allocation since 2015 when the city received $247,528.08.

Last year in the same allocation period the city received 211,276.23 and saw similar number in Feb. of 2016 when the city received an allocation of 214,973.10.

The City of Nixon is set to receive $47,023.69 in Sales Tax Allocations, for a YTD OF $71,108.90. Last year in the same reporting period the city received $24,511.98 in the February. In 2016 the city received a Feb. allocation of $29,091.52. Back in 2015 the allocation was much larger, at $122,103.57.

The City of Smiley will receive $1,569.11 in allocations this month, for a YTD total of $4,340.11. Last year’s Feb. allocation was $2,506.83. In 2016 the city received $2,056.22. In 2015 the allocation was $4,311.82.

The City of Waelder will receive an allocation of $3,947.74 this month, for a YTD of 8,056.92. Last year in the same period Waelder received $3,593.80. In 2016, the city’s allocation was $5,122.49 and in 2015 the city received $4,163.95.

These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2017 sales by businesses that report tax annually.
