Coronavirus numbers rise in Gonzales County with 37 new reported cases

The numbers of active coronavirus cases continue to climb in Gonzales County, as 37 new cases were reported Thursday, July 23, 2020.

These 37 new cases bring the county-wide total of active cases to 55. An estimated 495 have recovered, although Region 8 is no longer conducting active case monitoring. The total number of cases since onset is 556. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services concerning county trends, the trend line of reported cases in Gonzales County, although inclusive of dips in cases, has trended upward and downward since the first case was reported on April 1. The largest observable spikes in reported cases occurred on June 19, July 2, and within the last week and a half, July 16, 17, 21 and 23, ranging between 28 and 43 new cases reported each day. Given the 14-day average incubation period of the coronavirus, many of these cases likely would have been acquired between July 2 and 7.
