Gonzales City Council met Tuesday night with big-ticket items including setting the Maximum Ad Valorem Tax Rate and accepting the 2017-2018 Proposed City Budget. The Maximum Ad Valorem Tax Rate was set at 27.5 cents and the preliminary budget was accepted.

Under resolutions, council was set to discuss and consider authorizing the city manager, Sean Lally, to execute an amendment to Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative Inc.'s electric line transmission easement, located on parcel 738; execute a transmission line easement with GVEC on East Avenue/FM 532; execute a Right of Way Easement with GVEC at JB Wells Park; and authorize City Manager Sean Lally to: execute a Right of Way Agreement with GVEC, for said property on East Avenue/FM 532.

The first three actions were postponed, until GVEC is able to give the city a legal description of the properties for the resolutions. Council moved forward with approving Lally's execution of an agreement with GVEC, to keep the work on schedule, with the agreement that GVEC would provide legal descriptions within 30 days or less.

Council also postponed discussion on granting an easement to GVEC on property at J.B. Wells Park.

Other resolutions and considerations that were passed included: approval of a quote in the amount of $57,626 from Hill Country Tech Guys for server upgrades and licensing; and approval for Gonzales Convention and Visitors Bureau to fund up to $5,000 to Gonzales Memorial Museum.

Gonzales City Council meets 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at Gonzales Municipal Building, 820 St. Joseph Street, in Council Chambers. The Next regularly-scheduled meeting is slated for September 5.
