Council to consider “coffee with the mayor” event

The Gonzales City Council will convene at noon Thursday, Jan. 23 for a brief two item special called meeting. One of the items to be discussed is a resolution endorsing Mayor Connie Kacir’s proposed “coffee with the mayor” event.

Initially announced at the Jan. 9 council meeting, “coffee with the mayor” is an event in which members of the community are invited to meet with the mayor and ask any questions they may have relating to the city. The agenda describes the plan as an “initiative to promote municipal transparency.”

The council will also consider another resolution suspending the Feb. 6, 2020 effective date of Texas Gas Service Company’s requested increase. A similar resolution was passed by the Nixon City Council earlier this month.
