Gonzales County reported six new cases of COVID-19 during the week of Sept. 1-8. This equals the lowest volume of cases reported in a week since six cases were reported the week of May 19-25.
There are currently five active cases within the county, meaning that at least one of the cases was deemed “recovered” on the same day it was reported. The total number of confirmed cases, both active and recovered, is 838.
To date, reports from County Judge Patrick C. Davis show there are nine reported deaths in the county caused by COVID-19, although DSHS data shows there are 13.
Based on a report covering Trauma Service Area P – which encompasses 22 counties bordered by Gonzales, Val Verde, La Salle, and Gillespie counties, occupied hospital beds are down from this time last week as well, with 3,932 general and ICU beds being reported occupied Sept. 8, 2020 as opposed to 4,111 on Tuesday, Sept. 1. As of Sept. 8, there are 678 occupied ICU beds, where there were 727 on Sept. 1.
