Countywide vaccine distribution on agenda Monday for Commissioners Court

Posted

The Gonzales County Commissioners Court will be discussing countywide vaccine distribution at its meeting on Monday, Jan. 11, at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom.

Currently, the only healthcare providers which have been allocated Moderna vaccine doses are the Gonzales Healthcare Systems (Sievers Clinic, Memorial Hospital) and H-E-B Pharmacy. Both have stated that they are following state and CDC guidelines, prioritizing healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities, as part of section 1a of the state's distribution plan.

Last week, DSHS Commissioner John Hellerstedt urged providers to vaccinate those 65 years of age and over, as well as those 16 years of age and older with severe health risks.
