CTI Celebration adds inflatable attractions

GONZALES — It is never too early to get excited about Gonzales' annual Come and Take It Celebration and event organizers are constantly on the lookout for new attractions and activities. This week, Gonzales Chamber of Commerce announced planned activities and surprised us with a couple of new inflatable games.

Who hasn't wanted to walk on water? In October you'll get the opportunity, when CTI brings you Walk on Water Balls. Envision a hamster ball. Now, put a human inside said ball. Now, put that ball in water.  Wow!

CTI Activities Chair Ethyl Rochester said she is always looking for something new to bring to CTI. The Walk on Water Balls were first presented last year and after discussion and consideration plans have been finalized for the "wet-and-wild” attraction.

"I have talked to a number of people who have seen the activity in action," Rochester said. "It's a competitive and challenging spectator sport, everybody gets a kick out of."

To "walk on water," participants step into a large vinyl ball. They are zipped in, sealing the sphere, then the ball is inflated and rolled into a 20-square-foot pool of water. The object of the activity is to move the ball from the inside, by running on the interior walls – like a hamster.

Now, if walking on water isn't enough excitement for you, you may want try your legs at derby-style "horse racing."

Derby participants will take their racing marks atop inflatable race horses, then bounce and bound down the lanes of an inflatable racetrack.

"We are all excited about the next additions to the CTI activity lineup," Rochester said. "There is something for everyone."
