Delfino Reynaldo Lopez

Delfino Reynaldo Lopez, 84, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020. Reynaldo, as he was commonly known, was born in Encinal, Texas to Juliana Gonzales on September 30, 1935.  He married the love of his life Maria Rosa Avina on April 6, 1964 in Laredo, Texas.

As a 12-year-old, Reynaldo went to work on a ranch near Encinal where he worked cattle, broke horses, and enjoyed riding bulls. He moved to Gonzales and went to work as a cowboy for the Abercrombie Ranch before going to work for Harrell Cattle Company. After his first retirement he and his wife opened Lopez Restaurant. He went back to work as a truck driver for Fehner and Sons until he finally retired after 26 years of service. 

Reynaldo was a hard-working, devoted family man and devout Christian. He dearly loved his family, playing bingo, and dancing with his wife. He led by example in teaching his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, being true his family and loving his Lord. 

He is survived by his adoring family, wife; Maria Rosa Lopez of Gonzales, daughters; Sonia Edwards of San Antonio, Rosa Rodriguez of Gonzales, and Sylvia Ramos (Gustavo) of San Antonio, sons; Edward Lopez (Anna), Sabas Lopez (JoAnna), Richard Lopez, Rogelio Lopez (Lisa) all of San Antonio, Sabas Lopez (Leslie) of Gonzales, sisters; Gloria Perusquia (Gilbert) of San Antonio and Oralia Eldridge of Gonzales, 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather; Incarnation Nanez, sister; Emma Garcia; brothers, Panfilo and Alfredo Lopez and grandson; Rogelio Delfino Lopez. 

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2020 in the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers; Richard, Rogelio, and Sabas Lopez, Roger Rivera, Diego McClain-Lopez, Mario Vigil, and Gustavo Ramos. Due to current CDC and state mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, church service and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of Covid 19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
