Dolores Walker Sherry

Dolores Walker Sherry, 87 of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016.  Dolores was born August 19, 1928 in Flatonia to Edward Fred Walker and Sophie Michal Walker.  She married Lester Leon Sherry on March 17, 1948 in La Grange.  Dolores was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. 

Dolores Sherry was a quiet unassuming lady who lovingly cared for her family and people in general.  When called upon she would off sound advice, otherwise she kept to herself.  She was a devout Christian and practiced her faith throughout her life.  She dearly appreciated the kindness she found in people.  She enjoyed playing tennis and bowling with her husband in earlier times and loved their road trips together.  She was an avid reader and liked traveling with her lady friends to Branson, Mo. 

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christina and Hugh Clarke of Austin, Lynnell Sherry and Charles Venegas of Gonzales, son, Ken Sherry of Austin, sister, Doris Walker of Flatonia, grandchildren, Walter Clarke, David Clarke, Karen LeBlanc, and Kevin Rice, great-grandchildren, Nicole Clarke, Kasey Clarke, Drue Clarke, and Grayson Clarke.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Edward Walker. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Jene Dreyer and Rev. Gene Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodmen of the World Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Johnny Wayne Kuban, David McCaffrey, Hugh Clarke, Walter Clarke and Tom Tiller.  Memorials may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday morning in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
