Doug Kelley, of Edna, passed away on Saturday, April 1. He was born on Feb. 12, 1950, in Gonzales, Texas to the late Homer Kelley and Alma Gloor Kelley.

Doug was a very active person in the Jackson County Community. He was a former marine, retired army sergeant and paramedic/firefighter for several years. He was Santa for a lot of people. Doug was also an active participant in the Run for the Wall organization. He had a wonderful personality that will never be forgotten. Doug was a loving companion, father, brother, coworker, uncle and dear friend that will be truly missed.

Doug is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Shirley Olsovksy Kubecka, daughter Andrea Kelley, son Doug Anthony Kelley, children whom he loved as if they were his own Jennifer Kubecak Chandler (Jason), Stacy Kubecka Cornejo (John) and Brandon Kubecka (Candace), sister Paula Baulderston, brother Don Kelley, grandchildren Nikki Kelley, Ian Chandler, Ava Chandler, Blaine Cornejo, Payson Cornejo and Grace Kubecka, his favorite dog Louie and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5 in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held immediately following in Gonzales at the Herman Sons Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edna Volunteer Fire Department, 105 N. Allen Street, Edna, Texas 77957.

Pallbearers will be the Edna Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers are Buster Chase, Gary Young and the city council of Edna.
