The time is upon Gonzales voters to decide the fate of the city's tax rate. Will it stay at the $0.3050 per $100 of property tax valuation as decided by city council last year, or will it “roll back” to the $0.2248 rate that petitioners would like to see?
A total of 474 voters cast their ballot during the early voting period last week, either by personal appearance or by mail. The ballot asks your agreement — or not — in “reducing the tax rate in the City of Gonzales for the current year from $0.3050 to $0.2248.” You will need to only mark the ovals “For” or “Against” depending on your choice.
Voting will run from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, March 16. The one and only polling location is at Gonzales City Hall.
