Ella M. Ivey Lakey, age 85, of Dewville, passed away March 24 in Seguin. She was born in Gonzales County, Texas on July 4, 1932, to Douglas and Pauline Harris Ivey.
Known as Ella to some, but Grandma to many; she loved her family very much. They were all the joy of her life, and she would brag on them any opportunity she had. She also enjoyed any time she could visit with all of her nieces and nephews.
Ella attended Hillcrest Church in Seguin for many years, and then began attending a home church group at her sons’ home in her latter years. She will certainly be missed by many.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda Sue Lakey; four sisters: Louise Hitzfeld, Esther Ivey, Alice Sanders, and Sharon O’Neal; and two brothers: Sam Ivey and Mickey Ivey.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Andrew J. Lakey; three children: James D. Lakey and wife Sissy; Donna C. Kothmann and husband Alan; Tod Lakey; six grandchildren: Corey, Jayme, Brandie, Kayla, Cody and Amber; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loyce Meyer and husband A.W.; a brother, Larry Joe Ivey; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family and many friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 28, from 5-8 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating. Burial will follow at the Dewville Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers: Corey Lakey, Cody Lakey, Cayden Kalous, Cameron Lakey, Mikel Scarborough, Austin Hayes, Grant Morgan, and Easton Kalous.
