Esequio Perez of Crocker was born on Aug. 14, 1934 at Cost, Texas, a son of Alex and Demencia (Flores) Perez and departed this life at 2:23 a.m., Friday morning, Aug. 2, 2019 at his residence. George had attained the age of 84 years, 11 months and 19 days.

George was united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1968 at Iberia to Ms. Lois W. Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 6, 2014, his parents, one brother and one sister.

In 1961, George entered into the United States Army where he served for over 24 years when he was honorably discharged in November 1985 and had attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was awarded and entitled to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Unite Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (Silver, 2 loops), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (w/ 1 silver and 3 bronze service stars), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

George was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He and his wife had owned the Crocker Liquor Store and had helped with taking care of the Crocker Cemetery for many years.

Those left to mourn the passing of George include: one son, Bobby Joe Perez, Crocker; two grandsons, Robert Joseph Perez and Alex Luther Peres; three great-grandsons, Joshua, Molly and Emmet; two brothers, Robert Perez, Seguin, Texas and Joe Perez, Pasadena, Texas; three sisters, Beatrice Houeye, Roseland, Louisiana; Annie Gonzales, Luling, Texas and Doris Charles, Yoakum Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
