The Gonzales City Council will discuss and possibly appoint two council members to serve on a subcommittee to assess the feasibility of a new joint multipurpose facility for first responders at its meeting Nov. 14. First mentioned during the budget planning process, a plan to build a future fire station in Gonzales was added to the city’s 2021-22 capital improvement plan. The project is currently projected to cost $2 million.
The two council members would join either City Manager Tim Patek or a person he designates to develop a scope of work to be presented to council for approval at a later date. Details on a possible location are still to be determined.
The facility may also include accessibility for the Gonzales Emergency Medical Services fleet. The ESD board appointed Dr. Commie Hisey at its Oct. 17 meeting to act as an ESD and EMS representative during discussions with the city.
