Francisco Gamez, 80, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 15, at his residence.

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at Buffington Funeral Home.. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Alfonso officiating.

Francisco was born on May 11, 1937 in Mexico. He was the son of Bernardino and Catalina (Castillo) Gamez. Francisco married Maria Rosa Galvan in Mexico on Jan. 6, 1962. He liked to go horseback riding and listening to music. He enjoyed taking walks with his grandchildren and going to the beach. He was employed by Cal-Maine Foods for 15 years packing eggs. He liked to be on snapchat and taking selfies of himself and his grandchildren. Francisco always spoke to everyone and could make friends anywhere. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always in a good mood no matter how his day was going.

Mr. Gamez is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; Maria Rosa, three sons; Joel Gamez and his wife, Mari of Luling, Texas, Jose Francisco Gamez of Gonzales, Texas, Andres Gomez and his wife, Gloria of Gonzales, six daughters, Baudelia Castillo of Gonzales Texas, Catalina Gamez and her husband, Simon Martinez of Mexico, Maria Guadalupe Monreal and her husband, Martin of Gonzales, Texas, Anna Lilia Gamez and her husband, Jose Guadalupe Gomez of Gonzales, Texas, Rosa Angelica Gonzalez and her husband Juan Carlos of Gonzales, Texas, Jessica Juarez and her husband, Jose Benito of Gonzales, Texas, 26 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Catalina Gamez, one son; Ricardo Gamez, one daughter; Gabriella Gamez, one brother; Julio Gamez, and one sister; Panfila Gamez.
