G-Town Striders compete in Junior Olympics

KENNESAW, Ga. — A group of AAU track and field athletes representing Gonzales as the G-Town Striders traveled to Kennesaw, Ga. to participate in the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

In the girls’ eight-and-under group, Shakayden Clack took 24^th in the javelin throw with her distance of 28 feet, 11 inches. Kea’Anna White took 37^th with her toss of 24 feet.

Savannah Heximer took 39^th in girls’ shot put 13 years with her distance of 29-10 ¾. She also placed 43^rd in the discus throw with a distance of 62-5.

Veronica Moreno placed 18^th in the girls’ 14-year-old 1500 meter run. She finished the race with a time of 5:21.71. She also placed 12^th in the 3000-meter run with her time of 11:54.10.

In boys’ 12-year-old shot put, Scotty Upshaw placed 22^nd with his toss of 34-4 ¾. He also placed eighth in the discus throw with a toss of 91-7.

In boys’ javelin, Kamren Cavit of the 12-year-old group took 28^th with his distance of 76-8.

Kenneth Cavit of the 15-16 years’ group took on the discus throw with a 25^th-place finish. His distance was 119-10.
