G-Town Striders compete in Junior Olympics

KENNESAW, Ga. — A group of AAU track and field athletes representing Gonzales as the G-Town Striders traveled to Kennesaw, Ga. to participate in the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

In the girls’ eight-and-under group, Shakayden Clack took 24th in the javelin throw with her distance of 28 feet, 11 inches. Kea’Anna White took 37th with her toss of 24 feet.

Savannah Heximer took 39th in girls’ shot put 13 years with her distance of 29-10 ¾. She also placed 43rd in the discus throw with a distance of 62-5.

Veronica Moreno placed 18th in the girls’ 14-year-old 1500 meter run. She finished the race with a time of 5:21.71. She also placed 12th in the 3000-meter run with her time of 11:54.10.

In boys’ 12-year-old shot put, Scotty Upshaw placed 22nd with his toss of 34-4 ¾. He also placed eighth in the discus throw with a toss of 91-7.

In boys’ javelin, Kamren Cavit of the 12-year-old group took 28th with his distance of 76-8.

Kenneth Cavit of the 15-16 years’ group took on the discus throw with a 25th-place finish. His distance was 119-10.
