Gas prices fall 4.7 cents this week

Average retail gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 4.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.28 per gallon on Monday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.51 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Texas during the past week, prices on Monday were 21.4 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 0.3 cents per gallon lower than just one month ago.

The national average has decreased 2.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 23.4 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago. According to historical data, gasoline prices on February 19 in Texas have ranged widely over the last five years: $2.07 per gallon in 2017, $1.52 per gallon in 2016, $2.11 per gallon in 2015, $3.19 per gallon in 2014 and $3.60 per gallon in 2013.

In Gonzales, gas prices at five different retail outlets, including Buc-ee’s (-.3), Texaco (no change), Circle K (-.8), Walmart (-.2) and H.E.B. (-.2) were holding steady at $2.17 per gallon.
