GEDC adopts $719k budget

Gonzales Economic Development Corporation made cuts all throughout the proposed 2017-2018 budget. They started with a budget that was 12 percent over the 2016-2017 budget, but pared expenditures down to a budget only increased by 1.7 percent. The EDC's total approved 2017-2018 budget totals $719,436.00, including the new debt service of $24,800, for the JB Wells Expo Center and an expected three percent pay increase.

The board also conducted two public hearings. The first was to accept public comment on the expenditure of EDC funds in the amount of $52,033.04, for the purchase of three Kubota 72-inch mowers and on Kubota 60-inch mower, for the City of Gonzales. The second public hearing was to accept public comment on the expenditure of EDC funds in the amount of $54,060.51, for the purchase of a Kubota tractor with front loader, for use at JB Wells Arena and Park.
