GISD hopes to ‘Stuff the Bus’ during annual school supply drive

Posted

With the start of the 2017-2018 school year just two weeks away, Gonzales Independent School District is asking the public for school supply donations at the annual Stuff the Bus event.

From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 a GISD school bus will be parked at H-E-B. On Thursday, Aug. 17 the bus will be parked at Walmart.

Consumers who plan to tackle their back-to-school shopping this weekend (during the annual Sales Tax Holiday) and plan to stuff the bus next week will be helping numerous children, whom otherwise go without school supplies.

Each year GISD holds this event to collect school supplies for disadvantaged students to start the new year with the things they need. The supplies are split between the campuses and anything left over after the initial back-to-school dole is saved for those same students to receive supplies as needed.

Current school supply lists are in select stores and on the GISD website.
