Gonzales council accepts TXGN project

The Gonzales city council approved a $200,000 grant for Texas Gonzales Northern Railway to be used for rail improvements. The council, minus absent council member Gary Schroeder, unanimously approved the project.

“I think that’s a great project,” Mayor Connie Kacir said.  “I commend the GEDC for putting that together.”

TXGN plans on adding 2,850 feet of rail track and roadbed to its existing right-of-way located approximately one mile north of the U.S. 90A railroad crossing. The approved city grant will be used for materials and construction.

  • Council approved a budget adjustment of $54,640 to purchase Watch Guard in Car Video Camera, software, setup and training for Gonzales police.
