Gonzales council meets tonight

On the agenda of the Gonzales City Council are several big-ticket items as well as ordinances and an announced closed session. They are:

  • Discussion on Gonzales Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) funding $17,000 for the “Hot Rods and Hatters” car show in February plus $27,635.98 in in-kind city services;
  • Authorizing the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) to issue a grant to Edwards Furniture for a new roof in the amount of $16,000;
  • Authorizing street closures, consumption of alcohol on public property, and funding of $2,500 from the CVB for the annual Texas Independence Relay on March 29-30;
  • To seek bids for the replacement of 1,919 city water meters;
  • Conduct a closed session to discuss the estate of J.B. Wells litigation, city owned property, city owned billboard, and evaluation and setting the salary for the municipal court judge;
  • Swearing in of Municipal Court Judge Deidra Voigt;
  • Hold a workshop on the special events license policy and a street use license policy and associated fees.
