Gonzales council to discuss tourism position

Posted

Gonzales City Council will discuss and possibly act on “staff direction regarding the position of tourism director” at its meeting tonight, July 11. Clint Hille, the city’s previous tourism director, resigned from the position on June 28 to “take advantage of another career opportunity.”

Hille served as the first and only director since the creation of the position in 2017. In May 2019, the Gonzales Convention and Visitors Bureau board of directors sent a letter to city council recommending the continuation of the position. Hille also voiced his desire to see the position continue at his last CVB board meeting June 20.

Other agenda items of note for the July 11 meeting:

  • Possible action on multiple Gonzales Economic Development Corporation projects: National Signs Lynn Theater marquee and light repair and Insyteful web development.
  • Possible action on appointing Gonzales Main Street board members.
  • Street closures and alcohol permit for Come and Take It in October.
  • Appointing of Mayor Pro-Tempore.

Gonzales City Council will meet at 6 p.m. July 11 at the Gonzales Municipal Building, 820 St Joseph Street, Gonzales, TX 78629. City council meetings are always open to the public.
