Gonzales County Commissioners approve rental community in Pct. 3

County Commissioners voted to approve the use of a section of property located off of Lake Gonzales to be used as a rental community with 24 spaces for Recreational Vehicles, or RVs at the regular meeting of the Commissioner’s Court on Monday, Oct. 26.

Public comment given at the top of the meeting from Gonzales resident John Cores centered on the matter of property taxes. Cores said that he felt increases in property taxes, given that the schools remained closed for several months of the 2019-2020 school year, as well as several other factors such as exemptions, were unreasonable.

The Court also set the date for a Christmas party for County employees to be held on Dec. 10 with proper COVID-19 precautions in place. A County holiday schedule for 2021 was also set by the Court, and includes Come and Take It. County Judge Patrick C. Davis said that although the pandemic may have caused the cancelation 2020 Come and Take It festivities, bringing the 2021 celebrations into question, it will remain a County holiday.
