Gonzales Elks having a busy month

Posted

Gonzales Elks Lodge 2413 has been busy over the past week, but things are going to get even busier in the coming month. Last week, over 40 members of the Gonzales Elks Lodge volunteered their time to help with Warriors Weekend.

The Lodge donated use of its facility to host a luncheon for the Ft. Hood veterans on Friday, May 17. Volunteers helped to decorate the Lodge on Thursday and Friday, then plated and served all the meals at the luncheon.

With the Junior High Rodeo coming to town this weekend, the Elks Lodge will host numerous activities for our statewide visitors. On May 25, the Elks Lodge will host a luncheon for rodeo state directors from various regions. Then from May 27-31, the Lodge has offered an invitation to all rodeo attendees and their families free use of the Lodge’s pool. Luncheon meals will be offered for purchase from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a full bar will be available for the parents of the participants. The public is welcome to come out and purchase a good luncheon meal and visit with the rodeo participants and families.

May 31 will be a big day for the Lodge as it will host another luncheon for the state rodeo directors. It is also the day the Lodge will be delivering and donating cat food to the shelter that the Lodge has been collecting recently.

On June 6, the Lodge will be hosting its Fried Pork Chop Plate from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The plate includes a fried pork chop, gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling Shirley at 830-857-4142.

Finally, on Saturday, June 15 the Elks Lodge will be holding a special Flag Day ceremony at 4 p.m. featuring all the flags, along with support from the local VFW. The public is invited to attend this free public event and program.
