What is better than kicking off a fundraiser to help better serve a community?  Kicking off a fundraiser with a donation of $100,000.

Every 18 months the community gathers to support the local hospital in a fundraising gala. It is that time again, Gonzales Healthcare Foundation is preparing for its sesquiennial gala celebration and has already received a gift of $100,000.

The benefactor has chosen to remain anonymous to the public, but did speak to Gonzales Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Kelly Lindner about the donation.

"The fact that somebody in our community saw our needs and had the heart to kick off our fundraising gala with such a generous gift speaks for itself," Lindner said. "We are thankful here – and very fortunate as a community – to have benefactors of this caliber willing to invest in the future of our great hospital."

Lindner said the gift is earmarked for a room remodel project. The hospital has a number of rooms without showers and a number of rooms are just too small to utilize some of the highly-advanced equipment the hospital has available.

"Our donor has been in our rooms and knows how important this hospital is to our community," Lindner said. "This donation was made so that the hospital can better serve the community and allow the world-class doctors and nurses who work here to utilize all of the technological advances available to them and lends credence to the ability of our staff."
