Undefeated district champions
Shiner St. Paul finished TAPPS District 5-2A as undefeated district champions, routing Victoria Faith Academy 58-15. Gracey Novosad led in scoring, gaining a double-double with 15 points and 10 steals. Grace Irvin added 12 points to the stat sheet while Delynn Pesek had nine points. A total of 10 Lady Cardinals scored points in the Lady Cardinals’ 43-point victory. Playoff information was unavailable before press time.

Cardinals win district title
Shiner St. Paul boys’ basketball finished on top of TAPPS District 5-2A after a 72-48 victory over Victoria Faith Academy. Playoff information was unavailable before press time.

Apaches lose final two games of basketball season
The Gonzales Apaches ended their basketball season winless of District 27-4A, losing to Austin Eastside Memorial on Feb. 9 87-68, then dropping 75-53 against Navarro on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Making the playoffs out of district are Wimberley (10-0), Austin Eastside (7-3), La Vernia (6-4) and Navarro (4-6).

Mustangs drop final two games of season
Nixon-Smiley lost the final two games of their season, dropping to Schulenburg 76-36 on Feb. 9 and then 49-32 against Universal City Randolph on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 49-32. The Mustangs finish District 27-3A 1-13.

Lady Mustangs open softball season with win
Nixon-Smiley opened the softball season with a 14-13 win against Runge. The Lady Mustangs blasted 12 runs in the third inning to help push the team to victory. Leading the way was Yesenia Limon who went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Nixon-Smiley is scheduled to take on the Kenedy Tournament from Thursday-Saturday before hosting Kenedy on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m.
