In a short regular meeting of the board of trustees, Gonzales Independent School District board trustees unanimously voted to postpone the May 2 school board election to Nov. 3, 2020, citing the guidance of Gov. Greg Abbott to help reduce the possibility of exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

In two motions, the board approved the postponement of the election, then approved the move to Nov. 3. Only one of the three seats up for GISD board will be contested as District 5 Trustee Ross Hendershot III drew a challenger in Christina Price.
