Gonzales together in a time of need

Posted

Between 9 p.m. on March 13 and 9 a.m. on March 14, an unknown vandal slashed numerous vehicles’ tires at the 800 block of Saint Louis and the 200 block of Saint Mathew. On March 18 sometime between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. in front of the Come and Take It Grill another vehicle’s tires were vandalized. If you have any information regarding these cases please contact Captain Allen Taylor at (830) 672-8686 or the Greater Gonzales County Crime Stoppers at (830) 672-8477.
Out of this maddening act, has risen the beauty of the Gonzales spirit. From the first responders to Tush Tires, everyone took this act of vandalism seriously. Tush Tires, coming to the aid of guests of the Belle Oaks Inn, went to extreme lengths to find tires they did not have in stock, searching both Walmart and Quality Tire for the guests. When neither had the required type of tire, Tush Tire attempted and succeeded in patching the tire enough so the guests could continue their evening’s festivities. Tush was able to order and receive the correct tires by the next day. Belle Oaks offered the couple a comped extra day and they gladly accepted. The couple praised Gonzales, especially Allen Taylor and others with GPD who “were kind, courteous and professional.” Clint Hille, owner of the Belle Oaks inn said, “I sincerely appreciate everyone’s efforts. Despite the challenge, they (the couple) walked away knowing the folks of Gonzales care about our tourists.”
Visitors to Gonzales enjoy the hospitable, small town country community, but in every society, there are troubled souls who act out. With the help of the community of Gonzales, this person or persons can be found and rendered aid, because that’s what the folks of Gonzales are good at.
