GYC opens for Harvey evacuees

After fleeing their homes for higher ground Hurricane Harvey’s youngest evacuees maintained some normalcy, were able to pursue extracurricular activities and enjoy playtime at Gonzales Youth Center (GYC).

Deanne Novosad and Glenda Gordon have opened the doors at GYC to several youngsters and their patients. The children were able to burn off energy by playing games, shooting hoops and running.

Gordon said she felt it was important for the children to have some happy time, in light of the grave circumstances they have been thrown into.

Several members of the Shakespeare Ninja troupe helped to organize and facilitate the play times.
