Hamilton fills voids on two boards

GONZALES — Gonzales newcomer James Hamilton was appointed to Gonzales Economic Development Corporation in January. In February, Hamilton was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Hamilton, new to Gonzales from Weatherford, is a believer in civic service and community pride. While in Weatherford, Hamilton served on city council and even did a stint as Mayor Pro-Tem.

“Community service is important,” Hamilton said. “So much can be accomplished on the local level.”

Hamilton, an educator, said he applied for the position on the GEDC board of directors because a healthy EDC ensures children and their families can have access to better jobs.

He applied for the P&Z board because there was a need.

“I have always felt that when there is a need that’s when you roll up your sleeves and get involved,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton is an assistant principal at Gonzales High School, working primarily with freshmen and sophomores.
